Andrea Brook is an international performing artist and yoga teacher and tours as a musician, dancer, and installation artist. Talk about a busy schedule! She has joined us for our “Health, Focus, Goals” interview series to share how she stays focused on priorities and finds balance in her crazy schedule.

Hi Andrea! People use the phrase “good health” all the time. What does this phrase mean to you?

Good health is a holistic approach to our well-being that integrates not only the physical requirements of diet and exercise, it also recognizes the importance of reducing stress in our lives emotionally and psychologically.

With so many distractions in modern life, how do you stay focused on priorities?

Staying focused on one’s priorities requires us to be honest with ourselves about how we are feeling and to make choices that support our well-being rather than our status or image.

If you could give one tip to people wanting to achieve their goals, what would it be?

I encourage people to live a balanced lifestyle. When we are chasing after one thing or another, we live our lives on a pendulum that swings frantically from one side to the other. Keeping balance in our lives does not eliminate the pendulum, as life is dynamic. Balance does keep the pendulum of experiences from swinging out of control, allowing us to stay present to our intentions and move forward consciously and effectively.
